Créée en 1986, l’Université de Monastir devient l’Université du Centre en 1991 intervenant sur les gouvernorats de Sousse, Monastir, Kairouan et Mahdia. En 2004, elle a été scindée en 3 Universités : Sousse, Monastir, Kairouan.
Historique
L’Université du Centre a été créée par la loi no 86-80 du 9 août 1986. Elle groupe les institutions d’enseignement supérieur et de recherche des gouvernorats de Monastir, Sousse et Kairouan. Elle comptait 21 920 étudiants au cours de l’année universitaire 1995-96.
